Welcome to my campaign world

Please read this first!

My game of choice for my campaign is Old School Essentials as it's a direct clone of Basic/Expert Dungeons & Dragons, but with a much better layout, and some really good alternative rules such as ascending armor class. I was never a big fan of THACO.

I'm running my world as a sandbox, there's no main plot. Just undiscovered lands and character driven stories. I use 1/1 time; that is 1 day in the real world is 1 day in the game world. For example; If someone is hurt, they will be resting until the date when they are fully healed up comes along. Overland travel takes multiple days typically and is handled like this: If the party travels for 3 days and safely makes it back to civilization, they are playable again when that date comes around. Until then they are out adventuring, and if I want to play in the meantime I will have to pick other characters.

The world so far

The Hub town is called Whitewall, a large town with white buildings with thatched roofs, surrounded by white stone walls, located on the southern shore, adventurers come here by ship in search of riches and better lives. It is governed by Duke Egbert Plumbottom who rules from his castle.

It's generally a peaceful place, though there has been one goblin invasion, 8 goblins had taken over a building but I dealt with it, apparently there was a section of the wall surrounding the town that had crumbled, leaving a hole for them to come in. It's been dealt with.

Beneath Whitewall are the sewers, which I'm finding out is a megadungeon. Here is what I have explored so far:

Whitewall Sewers map

Room 1: Here I found a bum cooking giant rats, he helped me with information about the dungeon in exchange for 10 days worth of rations. Little did I know, he would betray me later on in Room 5 which he claimed he had never been in.

Room 2: This little triangular rooms entrance was a secret I found by accident; Pushing a certain brick in the wall makes it open into a long forgotten catacomb down on level 2. In Room 2 there was 4 skeletons, and stairs leading down.

Room 3: The floor in here has collapsed, revealing a huge pit into the nasty waters below, you have to hug the walls to move through here.

Room 4: This room had a pile of treasure which was protected by a swinging blade trap, luckely the party saw it and could jam it with a 10' pole and grab the treasure!

Room 5: Here I knew I had been set up, I triggered a trap that made a big stone slab drop and block off the path behind the party, and faced an improvised temple that the bums had setup, there was a silver statuette of a rat deity on an altar that they worshipped, and a gang of 8 bums where in here, wanting to overpower my party and sacrifice them to their god! With some quick thinking I dealt with them by using the bottles of oil we had as molotov cocktails, the party set them ablaze and stole the silver statuette.

Room 6: Some more treasure! Also trapped. As the party opened the chest a wall opened up, revealing a small chamber with a monster that surprised us, nothing more then a giant rat, but it could have ended badly, but the the party was victorious.

Room 7: An empty room, the path to the north is filled with sewage, lost a party member here due to a surprise attack by a crocodile that jumped out of the sewage, grabbed him by the leg and dragged him down...The path to the left is blocked by a port cullis.

Room 8: An empty room save for an old grandfather clock, it still works and chimes every hour, drawing in wandering monsters with its noise.

Room 9: A trap room, the rooms entrance opens and closes every 10 minute.

Room 10: Empty

Room 11: Huge room with rows of pillars, at the back we found a wererat performing a ritual by an altar, he had 2 giant rats with him. We snuck up on him and took him out, found a lot of coin here! It was best not to risk him finishing the ritual.

Room 12: Encountered a party of 4 level 1 clerics, they where initially friendly, I learned they where down here to convert the bums to follow their god, told us they where surprised they where all dead. My party told them they must have been killed by the other denisens of the sewers, totally forgetting the bums where burned to death. The clerics didn't buy it and drew their weapons. It was a tough battle but my party where victorious, we killed 1 of them, the rest surrendered. We stripped them of their gear and treasure and chased them away.
